Owen Homes wins Keystone Award

In December of 2013, Owen Homes had the honor of accepting a Keystone Award presented by the Clay County Economic Development Council.

The Keystone Award recognizes new and existing businesses and organizations that substantially improve the economic environment and quality of life throughout the Clay County community. The Keystone award is nomination based and judged on several qualifying factors: job creation, cultural enhancement, community contributions, and innovation.

During the ceremony, the presenters Greg Canuteson and Jerry Nolte spoke about our showroom, “This project retained nine jobs and brought 10 new ones, while skillfully refurbishing an old building in historic downtown Smithville. Owen Homes LLC is a family-owned business with Emily and Luke Owen. The construction company specializes in custom-built homes, renovations, room additions, and basement finishes. They operated out of their home for many years but had grown to nine full-time employees and needed an office and showroom to continue their success. The company now has 19 employees, including 17 full-time. In addition, they have contributed to the community with projects assisting the City of Smithville and Smithville Chamber of Commerce and are currently working on a food drive for City Union Mission as well as helping build a school in El Salvador.”

A special thanks to those that nominated us for the award and to all that continue to support Owen Homes.
